Help about picross

Goal of the game

The goal of the game is quite simple, it's to solve a grid while using the labels of help. You follow hints with the number in the top, and at the left of the grid.

How to solve a grid

If a label have this hint "3 4", it means we will have 2 series on boxes. The first serie will be 3 boxes and the second of 4. We don't know if the first serie will start directly at the left, or how many space it will have between this 2 series.

It's easier to begin with empty line, and after, starting with the biggest lines.

If by example, in a 10x10 grid, we see the hint "8", we can't fill it completly, but we can fill some of this boxes because we can know some are corrects.

We see that the 6 boxes in the middle will be correct in both way :

And we continue like that until the grid isn't complete.

If you are starting in the world of picross, I can give you one advice: start with the 5x5 grids, and after change for a bigger size. Size don't influence directly the difficulty, but if it's bigger, it contains more boxes. Smaller grids are habitually easier to understand and to practice.

How to use this game

I tried to create flashs to play picross easily. I'm a big picross's fan, so I create the game like I solve my grids.

Choosing boxes

You have to click on a box to choose it. If you click again on it, the box return in waiting state. When you know a box cannot be choosed, hold CTRL and click on it, the box will disapear. You can click again on it to make it visible again.

You can also choose more than one case in the same time. Usefull to fill 15x15 full lines :) You have to click on the starting box, holding the mouse button pressed and slidding to the ending box. You can select all the boxes with one click.

Pausing

Like you can see, they are a timer at the top left of the flash, it's to tell you your current time. This time is saved in the database. If, during the game, you need a break, click on the pause button. While pausing, the timer is stop.
